Truman's Treasures

A playful dog with a tennis ball, leaning on a walker, with the text "TRUMAN'S TREASURES" nearby.

At Boulder Rural Fire Rescue, caring for our community goes beyond emergency response. Through Truman’s Treasures, we provide free medical and mobility equipment to residents within our fire district who need temporary support while recovering from surgery, injury, or other mobility-related challenges.

This program is made possible thanks to the generous donations made to BRFR. Your support helps neighbors stay safe, independent, and comfortable at home during recovery.

We offer a variety of mobility aids available at no cost, including:

• Wheelchairs
• Transfer chairs
• Walkers
• Knee scooters
• Canes
• Crutches
• Shower chairs
• Stair-assist canes

How it works:
All equipment is available on a loan basis. Simply fill out the request form below, and Sarah will follow up with you.

Why Truman’s Treasures Exists

Truman’s Treasures was inspired by Kristen's Closet at Frederick-Firestone Fire District, whose commitment to providing free medical equipment to the communities they serve demonstrated the meaningful impact this type of program can have. Recognizing the benefit to residents in need of temporary support, we established a similar program within Boulder Rural Fire Rescue to serve our own fire district.

The program is named in honor of Truman, our beloved station dog, who retired in 2022 and passed away at 16 1/2 in 2025. Truman represented comfort, compassion, and unwavering support—qualities that reflect the heart of this program. Just as Truman brought reassurance to those around him, Truman’s Treasures exists to provide practical support and peace of mind to residents recovering from surgery, injury, or mobility-related challenges.

Through this program, we continue Truman’s legacy of care by helping our neighbors stay safe, supported, and independent at home.
